As part of our commitment to sharing the joy of cycling, Castle Hill Cycles offers basic skills instruction to ensure that you get the most out of your cycling experience. Our Fundamentals of Cycling series is divided into three one-hour sessions designed to transform the novice into a confident and capable rider through practice and review of the fundamentals.

Session 1

  • Anatomy of the bike
  • Choosing proper equipment
  • What to bring on a ride
  • Clipping in and out
  • Intro to shifting/cadence
  • Braking technique
  • Safety

Session 2

  • Starting from standstill
  • Balance on the bike/body position
  • Standing and pedaling
  • Coasting
  • Drinking while riding
  • Mindset and awareness

Session 3

  • Cornering
  • Line choice
  • Leaning the bike
  • Looking ahead
  • Sprinting
  • Group etiquette
  • Half-wheeling
  • Calling out hazards
  • Aerobars

Individual sessions are $70 each, or $190 if you sign up for all three.

Please note that helmets are required during the sessions. Bike shorts are also recommended, and a willingness to learn is a must!
